WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT OUR HOME
We have spent nearly a decade in this home and have loved every minute of it. We’ve particularly enjoyed the warm, welcoming neighborhood – for instance, Simpson Street hosts annual block parties and progressive dinners – and we have felt included in this community from the very beginning. Additionally, our home’s close proximity to outdoor gathering spaces (Porter Park, Perkins Woods) and Lincolnwood Elementary has made neighborhood socializing a breeze. Evanston itself also has so much to offer – we particularly love the easy access to the lakefront, as well as an easy commute to downtown Chicago.
The home itself is delightful. The layout is perfect for day-to-day living and is well-suited for entertaining, too. Our house has abundant vintage charm, with an attractive, red-brick exterior and original details like a stained glass window, but it is also updated for modern living. Our favorite room is our family room; it is all windows on three sides, which brings the light and bright of the outdoors into the main living space of our home.
We also truly love our backyard, which we have fully upgraded with new hardscaping. We have a fire pit that we use regularly, and the thoughtfully designed landscaping offers an ever-changing mix of perennial blooms. Our mature trees complete the package – our backyard truly feels like a wooded retreat. We also love the three car garage – we have finished the interior so it is party-ready, and the upstairs of the garage offers ample storage space for our family.
